The central assessment and intake services unit at Staten Island University Hospital offers comprehensive evaluations to determine if an individual is in need of chemical dependency treatment. The final section of this biopsychosocial evaluation recommends clinical intervention when appropriate.
Finding available services
All level of care decisions are based on the patient placement criteria defined by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). If the appropriate services are not available at Staten Island University Hospital, a referral will be made to another provider. Assessments are carried out by physician assistants and chemical dependency counselors with many years of experience working with addicted individuals.
