Cancer screenings save lives

If you are in need of a cancer screening but cannot pay for it, the Cancer Services Program of Staten Island may be able to help. Our cancer screening program has been providing free cancer screenings for Staten Islanders since 1994. There are no out-of-pocket expenses to participate in the program and services are provided year-round.

About the program

We provide breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings at no charge to men and women who:

  • Don’t have health insurance, or have health insurance that doesn’t cover the cost of screenings
  • Cannot pay for necessary screenings
  • Meet income eligibility requirements
  • Meet age requirements
  • Live in New York state

Cancer screening services offered:

  • Mammogram
  • Clinical breast exam
  • Cervical cancer screening (Pap test, pelvic exam)
  • Colorectal cancer screening (colonoscopy)

What happens after your screening?

In the event of an abnormal finding, diagnostic testing services are offered at no cost to eligible men and women. These services may include a diagnostic mammogram, breast ultrasound, biopsies, surgical consultation, surgery and gynecologic consultation, along with many other services.

If cancer is found, you may be able to enroll in the New York State Medicaid Cancer Treatment Program to receive full Medicaid coverage for the entire time you are receiving cancer treatments.
