Trusted urologic oncology care
At Staten Island University Hospital, our urologic oncology involves the diagnosis, comprehensive treatment, and follow-up of patients with cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, testicle, adrenal gland, penis, and retroperitoneum. Numerous medical and surgical advances over the past several years have improved the treatments of these malignancies, with earlier diagnosis, fewer treatment-related complications and side effects, and most importantly, more cures and enhanced survival in many cases.
Conditions we treat
If you or a loved one is facing surgery for prostate cancer, you no longer must assume or expect impotence as a result of "cutting the nerves." With refinements in the technique of nerve sparing and "continence-sparing" radical prostatectomy, we can now deliver advanced cancer therapy, along with fewer side effects.
Does your bladder cancer require a full cystectomy (removal of the bladder)? We now offer several options for urinary reconstruction that have eliminated the need for a permanent urinary ostomy (ileal conduit). These new techniques can help dramatically improve both your self-image and your lifestyle.
Other urologic cancers
Many other advances and improvements have been developed for kidney cancer, testicular cancer, and other urologic malignancies. Our methodical and precise follow-up and proper management of cancer-related complications are also an integral component of comprehensive urologic oncology care. Being familiar with all of these treatment modalities, as well as the development of innovations in cancer care, is the basis for our urologic oncology treatment.
