Eli Serur, MD was recently named Chair of Staten Island University Hospital’s department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN).

Dr. Serur comes at a time of extensive expansion to the hospital’s OB/GYN services with the new Women and Children’s Center under construction, a center that will become a premiere destination for obstetrics on Staten Island.

Using the latest robotic techniques, Dr. Serur specializes in performing single incision minimally invasive hysterectomies, ovarian cystectomies, and laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis -- an approach that reduces the risk of infection and shortens recovery time.

With a new 40,000 square foot Cancer Center also on the horizon, the delivery of gynecological oncology care will mutually benefit from the OB/GYN program.

“SIUH has made a significant investment in the literal delivery of OB/GYN care on Staten Island,” Dr. Serur explained. “Aside from the massive undertaking of a state-of-the-art birthing and newborn center, the hospital offers all of the leading modalities from robotic assisted surgery to world class prenatal care.”

“Dr. Serur brings the skill of over 10,000 obstetrical surgical experiences to a program that has led the state in exceptional outcomes,” said Dr. Brahim Ardolic, SIUH’s Executive Director. “His clinical reputation, educational and administrative expertise will lead the growth of our OB/GYN services and benefit generations of Staten Islanders to come.
